The gaming industry is amongst one of the industries that have gained a lot of traction in the past few years. This has catapulted in the rise of the number of bookmakers. Among the bookmakers, Betfair and Bet365 stand out for their presence in Australia. Below is a complete comparison of the two bookmakers in terms of the online platforms' quality. This is my comparison review of Betfair and Bet365

Sportsbook & Odds: Bet365 wins
In this section, I believe that Bet365 has taken an upper hand for various aspects. Its sportsbook has over 34 different sports presented to the players where they can access various top leagues, events, challenges, competitions, and tournaments. Some of the popular events offered include; BMW PGA Championship, WTA, Challenger, ITF, AFL, NRL, UEFA Champions League, and UEFA Europa League. Some of the popular sports games offered include;
- Horse Racing Baseball
- Harness Racing Cricket
- Greyhounds Darts
- Australian Rules Golf
- Rugby League & Union Snooker
- American Football Soccer
For Betfair, players are welcomed to a sportsbook with over 28 different sports to choose from. Like Bet365, many top leagues and events have found their way on the bookmaker. Some of them include; AFL, NRL, EPL (English Premier League), Melbourne Cup, BMW PGA Championship, and Rugby World Cup. Some of the sports to play include;
- Australian Rules Golf
- American Football Greyhound Racing
- Baseball Horse Racing
- Basketball Rugby League & Union
- Cricket Snooker
- Darts Soccer
On the odds section, Bet365 wins for various reasons. The bookmaker has offered the odds in different formats and what stands out is that the odds offered are competitive with slightly better betting margins as compared to Betfair. Bet365 also boasts of many markets that give bettors more avenues of winning. Additionally, Bet365 has provided different bet types to the players including; Trixie, Yankee, Super Yankee, Heinz, Super Heinz, Block, and Banker.
Betfair, on the other hand, has very competitive odds but not competitive enough as compared to Bet365. Additionally, different odds formats have not been offered to make it limited for players who do not understand decimal format better. The markets are sizeable which is positive but the betting types offered are limited. That notwithstanding, Betfair stands out for the betting exchange venue it offers which work to improve odds.
Betfair – 4.3/5
Bet365 – 4.7/5
Bet365 vs Betfair Australia Comparison: Additional Features
Live Stream – Bet365 wins
The live stream feature remains one of the most sought after features in any bookmaker. Many sportsbooks have come up with the feature where players can watch the events in real-time. In many of the bookmakers, they require a player to have a funded account or have an account that has placed a bet within the last 24 hours.
Bet365 live streams over 70,000 events in a year with bettors able to watch various sports including Greyhounds Racing, Horse Racing, Harness Racing, Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Volleyball, and Soccer. There are various races and events, however, that Aussie players will not access and they need to look on the Schedule section on the live streaming page to see the games being aired. The players can use all mediums to access the feature (desktop, mobile, and tablet)
Under Australian law, we are required to inform you that Live Streaming on bet365 is exempt from Parts 3 and 4 of the Broadcasting Services (Online Content Service Provider Rules) 2018.
Betfair has also offered a live streaming feature to the players. Aussie players can access various sports including football, tennis, cricket, basketball, tennis and more. However, for the Aussie players, there is no coverage from At The Races. With a funded account, a player will be able to watch the games live.
Betfair – 4/5
Bet365 – 4.5/5
Mobile Application – Betfair wins
All the platforms have a mobile platform rolled out. This has been made possible by the bookmakers launching a browser-based client interface where bettors can use their browsers such as Chrome and Safari to go through the websites. Additionally, Betfair and Bet365 have also rolled out mobile applications to the players which are compatible with Android and iOS-powered phones.
Bet365 offers a seamless mobile experience to the players where they can access more than 34 different sports and various promotions offered on the platform. Other services and products that are accessible on the phone include payment transactions, customer support services, account creation services, live streaming, cash-out, and live betting for those outside Australia.
Betfair has also offered a well-designed mobile experience to the players and a mobile application has also been launched which is the first betting exchange offered to Australian players. Bettors can create an account with the bookmaker, access the various sports games offered, live stream, cash out, deposit and withdraw funds, reach for customer service with options like live chat and accessing FAQs page.

Bet365 – 4.3/5
Cash Out – Bet365 wins
Cash-out is another feature offered in many bookmakers where players take charge of their funds by locking in profits or minimizing losses on live events. Bet365 has offered three (3) cash-out options where a player can cash-out fully, cash-out partially, or auto cash-out. With full cash-out, a player will cash-out either the winnings or remaining stake fully, partial cash-out will have a player cashing out part of the winnings and have a remainder on the account while auto cash-out will have the system cashing out on behalf of the players. Bettors will set a limit and once its hit, the system automatically cashes out.
Betfair has also offered the cash-out option to the players where they can cash-out part of the bet or fully on several sports. Events available for cash-out include football, tennis, horse racing, golf, and basketball. A player will be able to cash-out when the orange ‘Cash out’ option is provided.
Betfair – 4/5
Bet365 – 4.5/5
Final Thoughts: Which One to Choose?
Well, to be honest, I think that they both are great operators. Betfair is pretty unique by being a betting exchange platform but at the same time, bet365 is an operator known worldwide with great variety on sports and very competitive odds. The choice is really hard. If you are an experienced bettor or you want something different and challenging I would propose to you to choose Betfair. If on the other hand, you want just a great platform, then bet365 is also a good choice for you. The biggest problem with bet365 in Australia's case is that has very limited options in comparison to what it offers in other countries. On the other hand, Betfair has also a casino section and other games you can choose. So, I think that if you are looking for a complete betting experience in Australia, then Betfair is the perfect choice for you.
